episode 11 and 12 is episode summary not JunDi moments...
Episode 9
1st plot:
Last episode, Junpyo sleeps at Jandi’s house. Morning, Junpyo wakes up and Jandi’s parents urge him to eat up. Jandi’s mom takes particular care in attending to him, but to the fastidious Junpyo, it’s a bit hard to swallow when she uses her hands to tear up his meat before serving it to him.
2nd plot:
At the Geum house, Junpyo watches in fascinated curiosity while Jandi’s family prepares a massive batch of cabbage to be made into kimchi. He asks Jandi if it’s fun! Then he intercepts the cabbage and joins them. Jandi feeds him kimchi and he gets so excited.
3rd plot:
Junpyo joins the Geum men at the public bath, and participates in that grand exercise of male bonding: scrubbing dead skin from each other’s backs. They emerge from the bath and beeline for some fish-cake skewers from a street vending cart, which Junpyo tastes for the first time. He likes them so much that soon, a mound of little skewers sits in front of him.
4th plot:
Junpyo’s pacing up a storm waiting for Jandi to call him. He’s determined to wait for her to make the first move, and paces in agitation. Woobin, ever the voice of reason, tells him to call her, but Yijung reminds him of the player’s code. Relationships require a certain give and take and it’s better if he waits. Thus when Jandi does finally call, Junpyo tries to calm his reaction before answering the phone. First, he feigns disinterest: “Geum Jandi? Who’s that?” The guys sigh that he’s overdoing it, so he corrects himself, saying, “Ah right, I remember now.” But in an effort to pretend he hasn’t noticed her absence, he assures her, “I’ve been SO busy, I haven’t been able to recall that you haven’t called in three days and thirteen hours.” Yijung grimaces, “It’s embarrassing calling him friend.” Jandi makes a suggestion which Junpyo finds disagreeable, and he balks, “Why would I want to go there?” and hangs up. And then crows to his buddies, “Did you see how I hung up first?” Turns out Jandi was calling to suggest that they go out on a double date. Yijung volunteers to go in Junpyo’s place, because he wants to see what a commoners’ date is like. Junpyo tells him to shove off.
5th plot:
The next day, Jandi tries to pretend she’s not disappointed that he turned down the invitation. Jandi and Gaeul are waiting for Gaeul’s boyfriend… and suddenly, Junpyo shows up, pretending to have run into them by sheer coincidence. He promises he’ll behave but is still very annoyed that Gaeul’s boyfriend is late. Gaeul’s boyfriend, Supyo, makes a bad impression right off the bat, arriving a half-hour late and mocking Junpyo hair is like a sea shell! And whips out his phone to get a picture of this marvel of hair gel! Junpyo is pissed, of course, but refuses to leave. He says he wants to know what a commoners’ date is like and jams Jandi’s arm around his.

And whips out his phone to get a picture of this marvel of hair gel! Junpyo is pissed, of course, but refuses to leave. He says he wants to know what a commoners’ date is like and jams Jandi’s arm around his.
6th plot:
The date has a worse start: Junpyo fails to get Jandi a toy gift from a toy machine and Supyo taunts Junpyo for his uneasiness at the food which is intestines. Goaded by Supyo’s patronizing remarks, Junpyo forces himself to eat with difficulty causes Supyo to laugh harder.
Things improve when the couples split up to skate on an outdoor rink. Jandi admires the pretty lights, having never come to a place like this before, which she describes as fairy-tale-like. Seeing Jandi’s bare hands, Junpyo gives her one of his gloves, then tucks her uncovered hand into his pocket. Perhaps thinking of the display of lights, he suggests, “Let’s go someday.” She asks, “Where?” Junpyo: “Champs-Elysées.”
Then, Supyo drags Junpyo away under the pretense of getting coffee for the girls, who hang around for a while before deciding to go after the guys. Suddenly, they find Junpyo pummeling Supyo to pulp. Jandi tries to get Junpyo to apologize, threatening to end their relationship if he doesn’t. He doesn’t apologize and just stalks off.
7th plot:
Jandi drops by the F4 hangout. The other guys, having heard none of the story from Junpyo, are alarmed at their chilly exchange, sensing that whatever happened was serious. Jandi tell Junpyo this again, with poor Woo Bin as their messenger. That scene was hilarious. Junpyo refuses to apologize, so Jandi tells him, “Don’t act like you know me.” After Jandi leaves, they try to get Junpyo to go after her.
8th plot:
Supyo continues to ignore Gaeul’s calls, so Jandi proposes seeking him out rather than waiting for him to call. Arriving near the club where he works, they spot him walking with a pretty, older girl. From a distance, the girls overhear as he complains about his ridiculous double-date fiasco. Supyo makes himself out to be the martyr, then proceeds to trash both Gaeul and Jandi, calling them unfashionable and dumpy. We learn that on the night of the double date, Supyo had suggested to Junpyo that they ditch Jandi and Gaeul to meet “real women” at a club: “That Jandi or weed or whatever, she’s totally not it, don’t you think?” Junpyo had beaten him up for that, telling him, “If you ever call my girlfriend ‘weed’ or anything like that, you’ll never eat intestines with that mouth again!” At that point, Supyo glances over and notices the girls. Jandi asks, “Is that true?” Gaeul is hurt at Supyo’s dismissal — he tells her to stop bugging him, like some kind of stalker — which enrages Jandi. With a howl, Jandi hops a fence, leaps at Supyo, and delivers her trademark spinning back kick to his face. Stomping on his chest, she yells, “One was for Gaeul, and one was for my boyfriend!” aw, she calls Junpyo her boyfriend. Afterward, Gaeul attempts to look on the bright side: “I’m glad. At least we found out that Junpyo sunbae isn’t a bad person.” Though in a glum mood, Gaeul urges Jandi to apologize and make up with Junpyo, assuring her friend she’ll be fine on her own.
9th plot:
At F4 headquarters, Jihoo asks if Junpyo has made up with Jandi yet. Not noticing Jandi’s silent arrival behind him, Junpyo vows that he wouldn’t make up with Jandi even if she begged and insists on his innocence in the matter. Amused, Woobin addresses Jandi: “I guess you’ll have to go home then.” Junpyo looks up, startled, to see her standing there with an apologetic expression. Jandi says, “I didn’t know you were so angry. I was just thinking of myself. I’m sorry, I’ll go.” Junpyo leaps over the couch to stop her. Working up her nerve, Jandi says haltingly, “Gu Junpyo… accept my apology!” and holds out an apple. Junpyo’s obviously pleased, but he’s got his pride to think of, so he keeps a straight face. He wants three wishes before accepting her apology. Jandi reluctantly relents — but he has to name his wishes within one minute. Go! Junpyo sputters that that’s not fair, all the while Jandi counts steadily. Flustered, he instructs her to sit, then stand — which Jandi counts as two wishes. With five seconds left, Junpyo blurts out his wish — she has to apologize while calling him “oppa” in a baby voice. Cringing, she tries to muster the words… then exclaims, “I can’t! Take the apology or leave it!” Woobin says wisely, “You should have accepted the apology when she offered.” Jihoo takes a bite of the apology apple, which Junpyo grabs back possessively.
10th plot:
Junpyo calls Jandi out, and she grumbles all the way, still chafing at his treatment of her apology. She walks past the darkened park, looking up in wonder when an extravagant display of lights suddenly flickers on. Junpyo stands in the middle of the playground, which he decorated with yet more lights: This is his version of Champs-Elysées. He asks, “Do you like it?” Happily, Jandi nods, “It’s pretty. It’s like Christmas.” Junpyo wonders what’s so great about Christmas, and she responds that it’s a happy day. Junpyo answers, “I’ve never had a happy memory of it.”
A flashback shows us a lonely Little Junpyo, being entertained by maids and his butler, delivered impersonal gifts from his parents. Junpyo asks about the kimchi he helped make, and says, “I’d like to eat some.” Also, he enjoyed her mother’s cooking and the vending-cart fish sticks her father bought him.
Junpyo: “You know, I didn’t know what family was, but looking at your family, IJunpyo rises from his swing, kneels in front of Jandi and taking hold of her hands…: “I want to go. I want to, every day.”
think I have an idea. Can I drop by again?”
Jandi : “Did you ever ask permission before coming?”
Junpyo: “I’m not joking.”
Episode 10
1st plot:
Remembering Gaeul’s explanation for giving her chocolate to someone she’s thankful to, Jandi thinks of who she’s thankful to. At first, she thinks about Jihoo but in the end, she prepared curly-haired Junpyo shaped cookies for Valentine’s Day.
2nd plot:
Jandi calls Junpyo out (to a Shinhwa building) to give him the cookies, trying to play off her nervousness when he opens the box. In the moment of speechlessness while he takes in the curly-haired faces, Jandi mumbles, “I was going to give it to someone else, but these are the ones that got messed up…” He’s touched, and even refuses to let her eat one.
Then, the Valentine’s Day event begins, showing us why Jandi picked this particular spot to meet Junpyo. It’s a couples event with a cell phone as a prize; the challenge requires one half of the couple to lift the other for as long as possible. Junpyo approaches this task unenthusiastically, but Jandi is eager to win. He grumbles that they can just buy phones, to which she says she’d prefer to win one with her own skill. He replies that this is his skill.
Suddenly, his mom shows up and happens to recognize one of the participants: his son. OMG! Junpyo quickly drops Jandi, who hides behind him. Junpyo is forcibly ushered out of the building by his mother’s employees and sent home.
3rd plot:
Jandi wandering alone and walks home, carrying her bag of chocolates. She’s hunched in the middle of the sidewalk when Jihoo drives up on his motorcycle and announces, “Did you call for a driver?” Jandi asks him how he knew. He tells her that Junpyo called him as he was dragged home and asked him to pick Jandi up.
4th plot:
Madam Kang looks through a stack of photos showing Junpyo with Jandi, and is apprised of Jandi’s family situation. She’s displeased that Mr. Jung hadn’t reported this earlier and Mr. Jung tells her, “You’re the one who ordered it.” Junpyo bursts in to face his mother and says, sternly, “Don’t mess with that girl.” Madam Kang affects a blasé attitude as she says that a busy person in her position can’t be bothered with something so worthless. Junpyo says, “Then we’re fine,” and leaves. Madam Kang instructs Mr. Jung, “Make preparations immediately.”
5th plot:
Junpyo drops by Jihoo’s house (and spots the chocolates on Jihoo’s table, which Jandi left behind after he’d given her a ride home). Jihoo takes one and purposely bites into it, provoking Junpyo to grab at the other half and exclaim, “Don’t eat that!” In any case, Junpyo has dropped by to talk things over with Jihoo. He worries, “Why am I so uneasy? It feels like something’s going to happen to her. What I’m most afraid of is that in the moment she comes into danger, I might not know it.” Jihoo says reassuringly, “Don’t worry. You know Jandi’s not weak. Don’t be afraid, either. You’ve always got us behind you.”
6th plot:
Madam Kang drops in unexpectedly on the Geum family. In a tone of polite (though cold) good manners, she sounds fairly reasonable, and Jandi’s parents agree wholeheartedly, as she describes herself as a concerned mother who must make her son’s success a priority. Her tone is so mannered that it takes them a moment to register her words when she asks, “Do you know what’s most important in growing grass?” Blankly, they wonder what she’s driving at, and she continues: “Cutting out the weeds. The most important thing is pulling the weeds, which do more harm than good, out by the roots.” Jandi’s mom asks, “Are you saying our Jandi is a weed?” Madam Kang replies, “I’m glad it seems you understood.” President Kang offers their family 300 million won if Jandi will just sign a contract agreeing to cease her relationship with Junpyo. The family is speechless. An insulted Mom grabs a bowl of salt and dumps it all over Madam Kang’s head. She demands, “Get out immediately!” Madam Kang warns, “You’ve made a huge mistake.” Later, the family congratulates Jandi’s mom on standing up to Madam Kang like that and admiring that she chose pride over the money. Jandi’s mom scoffs and says, “No, it’s all about the money.” She says that they can’t accept 300 million won because what if Jandi married Junpyo. Jandi seems upset by the whole thing, though…
7th plot:
Jandi gets home to find out that their dry-cleaning business has been shut down, undoubtedly the work of Madam Kang. So Jandi and her family decide to sell rice crackers, coffee, and other snacks on the street.
8th plot:
Madam Kang orders Mr. Jung to buy some rice snacks from the vendors. Junpyo looks at his mother in alarm/surprise and asks her, “Are you in your right mind? Madam Kang is going to buy rice crackers off the street? Are you sick or something?” Madam Kang has a plan. Unhappily though dutifully, Mr. Jung complies, and Jandi bounds over to offer the snacks. She takes a moment to recognize who’s inside the car — at which point her smile fades, replaced by an uncomfortable laugh. Junpyo’s eyes widen in shock and he starts to get out of the car, but his mother grabs his hand tightly to hold him back. Jandi watches the car pull away, trying to tamp down her hurt.
Back in the car, Madam Kang tells her henchman to throw those rice crackers away, scoffing, “Selling something you eat in a smokey hole like this is absolutely senseless. Get rid of it immediately.” Junpyo looks at his mother angrily and orders the driver to stop the car but his mom still grips his hand. But Junpyo shakes off his mother’s hand and yells at the driver to stop. Leaving his mother glowering, Junpyo storms out of the car and walks straight for Jandi, thinking, “Geum Jandi, stay right there. Please just stay.” Jandi stands frozen in surprise, in the middle of the road, watching his approach. I hate that kiss! The sunlight blocks the way.
9th plot:
Junpyo: “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Jandi: “So you could you push money at me again and say, ‘How much do you need?’”
Junpyo: “If your dry-cleaning business is in trouble, you can set up another one. Why embarrass—”
He catches himself, but Jandi knows what he meant.
Jandi : “Yeah. I — no — my family probably is embarrassing. But I’m not sorryJandi says the last bit with a bit of a smile, but Junpyo addresses her solemnly.
for any of it.”
Junpyo: “What I mean…”
Jandi : “Us dating and my family circumstances are different things. Plus, you
can’t do everything for me your way just because you’re my boyfriend.”
Junpyo: “Then what should I do? Should I just watch as your whole family sells
snacks on the street?”
Jandi :“Yeah. Just watch.”
Junpyo: “What?”
Jandi : “Don’t do anything and just watch, if you want to be my boyfriend.”
Junpyo: “Oi, Dry Cleaner.”
Jandi : “It’s been a long time since you’ve called me that. But you know, I’m not a
dry cleaner’s daughter anymore.”
Junpyo: “Geum Jandi. I’m not saying this to scare you, and there’s no reason for
you to be afraid. Just know this. My witch of a mother is someone who’s
capable of doing anything, at any time.”
Jandi : “It seemed like it.”
Junpyo: “Promise me.”
Jandi : “Promise what?”
Junpyo: “If something happens, you’ll tell me right away.”
Jandi (nodding): “Okay.”
Junpyo: “One more thing. No matter what happens, you won’t run away from me.”
At that, Jandi responds in a joking tone:
Jandi: “Now that, I can’t promise.”Now his mood lightens: “That promise really puts my mind at ease.” Jandi offers Junpyo a can of coffee, which he takes. He grabs her hand and they walk off together. Later, at home, Junpyo takes out the coffee and stares at it, lost in thought.
Junpyo: “What?”
Jandi: “You know, I’ve wanted to run away a few times, but it was because of you,
not your mother.”
Junpyo: “Hey!”
Jandi: “I’ll promise. Whatever happens, your mother won’t be a reason for that.”
Junpyo: “It’s a good thing you’re Geum Jandi.”
Jandi: “Why?”
Junpyo: “I’m really glad that the commoner gangster Geum Jandi is my
girlfriend.”
Episode 11
1st plot:
Thinking to do something nice for Jandi, Junpyo supplies the pool with scented salts, soap, and spa items. Yijung notices that he doesn’t seem happy. Junpyo answers, “I’m annoyed that this is all I can do for her.”
2nd plot:
The next day, at school, Jandi follows her nose and growling stomach to yummy noodles! She makes sure there’s no one there and digs in. The ramen owner/cooker walks in, catching her mid-bite — and she recognizes him as the black knight: helps her escape from creepy “photoshoot”. This is a first year student, Lee Jaeha, looking mighty different from the cool, collected guy who’d helped her. He addresses Jandi as “sunbae” and confesses he’s her fan, seeing how she stood up to F4 like a “commoners’ hero.”
3rd plot:
Jandi’s at her locker, getting ready to go, when she re-thinks about Jaeha’s offer to her about doing some odds-and-ends work at the magazine he works for. It pays well. She makes up her mind to go and when she gets ready to go, she walks into Junpyo. Junpyo comments how he’s barely seen Jandi recently, and intends to whisk her off to Hokkaido for a short weekend jaunt. Thinking of her new job, Jandi fumbles for an excuse, seizing on Gaeul’s birthday — it’s their long-standing tradition for her to spend the night. Disappointed, Junpyo grumbles, “Am I more important, or Gaeul?” Immediately, she answers, “Gaeul,” then forces a laugh and promises to call.
4th plot:
Jaeha brings Jandi to the magazine place that he works at, and gets ready while she goes into a room to tidy up. He comes out of his changing room with his makeup… actually he is Haje, the model. She doesn’t really have anything to say, and he just goes on to model for some photoshoots. After he’s done, he checks up on Jandi and ever conveniently so, he grabs Jandi into a hug and asks his hyungs to take a photo of them together. And ever so conveniently, the photos think the two look really good together and that they should model together since they haven’t found a female partner for Jaeha yet. At first, Jandi isn’t so sure she could do it, but Jaeha tells her that it pays a lot, and she’s convinced.
5th plot:
At Jihoo’s place, Junpyo stews over being pushed aside for Gaeul, and how Jandi’s always busy with activities except meeting him. After that, Junpyo falls asleep in Jihoo’s bed, and Jihoo tucks him in.
6th plot:
After Jaeha and Jandi eating at 7-11, where Jandi happily says she’ll treat because she got paid from the modeling gig. Jaeha mentions having an older brother, who’s not around because he’s not in good health. Jandi doesn’t really have anything to say, and before long, she realizes that she’s late for her next job, and grabs Jaeha with her. The two happily delivers newspapers together and Jandi seems to enjoy Jaeha’s company. Before long, the two run into Jihoo. He tells Jandi that he accompanied Junpyo all night because Junpyo was in a bad mood about not being as important as Gaeul was to Jandi. Jihoo says that he’ll pretend he didn’t see the two of them.
7th plot:
The school is abuzz when the magazine comes out featuring Jandi and Haje’s photo on the cover. The Mean Trio is sick with envy over Jandi’s inexplicable pull with Junpyo, Jihoo, and now their beloved Haje: “After you stole F4 away, Haje was the one person who gave us hope in our pain!” Until Haje comes and says that it’s not like he ever showed interest in any of the Mean Trio anyway and takes Jandi away.
Meanwhile, other students run to F4’s study room to show Junpyo the magazine. Junpyo FUMES upon seeing his girlfriend on the cover and gets ready to get some business done.
8th plot:
When Junpyo happens upon Jaeha holding onto Jandi’s hand, he’s outraged. Junpyo accuses Jandi of lying to him and sarcastically wonders why Jandi didn’t tell him that he was Gaeul. Or that it was his “birthday.” Jandi apologizes and says that this was her mistake. Just when she’s about to explain, Jaeha lets out a small laugh.
Junpyo: “Did you just laugh?”Junpyo beats Jaeha repeatedly out of anger. Jandi watches on at first. Junpyo tells Jaeha to repeat what he said, and Jaeha spites him even more--- “Junpyo doesn’t deserve to be with someone like Jandi sunbae”.
Jaeha: “It’s a little funny. Do you have so little confidence with the girl you like? And before getting jealous, shouldn’t you first find out what situation your girl is in?”
Finally, Jandi tells Junpyo to stop. Jandi says that Jaeha has helped her outside of school and is the only friend that feels the way she does in school. Junpyo asks: “The only one?” Grabbing her by the jacket, he barely keeps his temper in check, demanding, “What is that bastard to you?” Fighting tears, Jandi says, “I’m tired. I want to stop now.” He shouts her name in disbelief, as she continues, “I want to go back to before I knew F4 and Gu Junpyo.” Junpyo lets go of her, and stalks off without another word. F3 follows him silently, with Jihoo pausing to give her a look.
9th plot:
Back at home, Junpyo clears out his closet in rage. Jihoo chills at his own home and flips through a magazine until an ad with Jaeha catches his eye. Jandi continues with her newspaper delivery route. When she takes a break to put in an ad into each copy of the newspaper, she notices that it’s an ad for Shinhwa corp., and thinks about Junpyo. She wipes away tears and drinks some milk to distract herself. She eventually has to stop what she’s doing to try and compose herself.
10th plot:
The next day, Jandi opens her locker to see a shiny F4 red card hanging on the ledge. The students are excited about the prospect of a student receiving a second red card when Jaeha grabs the card and tells Jandi not to worry about the card, he’ll protect her.
The cruel pranks resume, such as her desk being removed from class. Locating it outside, Jandi pushes the desk back toward the building, when Jaeha darts out and cries, “It’s dangerous!” Jaeha pushes her back just as a heavy potted plant crashes down from the second floor, toppling the desk. Grimly, he tells her this is Junpyo’s doing. He points to the landing above, just outside F4’s private classroom. In disbelief, Jandi shakes her head, saying, “No, he wouldn’t do that.” After she leaves, Jihoo inspects the broken pot.
11th plot:
Next day, Jandi goes to her classroom but finds that class has been moved to the science lab. When she gets to the science lab, nobody’s there either. She waits, and while waiting, somebody lets in a vile of gas that starts smoking. When Jandi realizes she’s in danger, she screams for help, but the doors are locked and the windows are nailed shut. Then, Jaeha shows up. By the time he can get into the smoke-filled room, Jandi’s passed out. He brings her back to his house and settles her on his bed. He’s just about to do the creepy give-her-a-kiss-on-the-forehead-while-she’s-asleep thing when he gets a phone call. Jaeha assures his caller — Mama Kang — that Jandi’s sleeping in his bed, and reminds her to get his payment ready. He stares intently at a few photos of someone we can assume is his older brother.
12th plot:
The F3 guys have been unable to get a hold of Junpyo, and worry that he and Jandi may really be over for good. Gaeul shows up to ask them for help: she can’t find Jandi! They set off to look for Jandi. Jihoo calls Junpyo to tell him that Jandi is in danger.
In the meantime, Junpyo has gone off alone somewhere and rejects all his calls. He walks around the class trip location from Episode 3, when Jandi had saved Junpyo from drowning and given him CPR.
13th plot:
Back at Jaeha’s house, Jandi wakes up to find out that she’s been unconscious for a while now, and that she’s already been away from home for two days. Jaeha told her that he already told her parents she’s hanging out with F4, so everything should be alright. Jandi gets herself dressed and as she gets ready to leave, Jaeha asks her if she still thinks Junpyo is innocent. She says that he doesn’t understand Junpyo, she does. But Jaeha rebuts her and says that, no; he does know him, perhaps even more than Jandi does. Junpyo is the type of person who doesn’t care at all about other people’s happiness. Jandi insists that he was like that before, but he isn’t now. Jaeha grabs Jandi into a hug and tells her that she doesn’t suit him. She should stay by his side; they belong in the same world. Jandi insists that they won’t work out, and that she does believe in Junpyo because Junpyo believes in her. Jaeha tries to force her into a kiss, but Jandi rejects his advances. She realizes how important Junpyo is to her, and Jaeha warns her that she’ll regret this. As Jandi leaves, Jaeha grabs her from behind and smothers her to a faint. Like he warned, she’ll regret this.
14th plot:
Junpyo returns home, unaware of everything that’s transpired in his absence. He’s immediately alarmed when his butler tells him F4 have been very worried because of Jandi. Junpyo is handed an envelope containing an anonymous letter bearing the ominous message: “If you want to save Geum Jandi, come alone.” With a picture of Jandi, bound and gagged, and a lock of her hair. With Jandi in danger, Junpyo pretends nothing’s wrong and insists on going to bed undisturbed. Once he’s alone, though, he dons black clothing and grimly prepares to meet the kidnapper. Meanwhile, F3 arrive Junpyo’s room and tried to find him but when Yijung saw the window open, he knows that Junpyo went to save Jandi.
Episode 12
1st plot:
Continuing from our kidnap scene. Jaeha reveals to Jandi that yeah, this is his doing, and he’s also in on it with Junpyo’s mother. It’s too bad Jandi turned him down, because Jaeha was planning on splitting the money (from Madam Kang) with her. But, “The moment you rejected my proposal, the goal in my game became one thing: Gu Junpyo.” Jan-di asks why he’s bent on revenge — what exactly did Junpyo do to you? Jaeha answers that technically it was his brother who was wronged — he was F4’s rooftop victim. He’s nearly crippled now, “but he smiles whenever he talks about you.”
Then Jandi hears noises from outside — noises that tell her Junpyo is here and that he’s getting quite a beating. Once he gets dragged into the warehouse, the first thing he says is, “Geum Jandi! Are you okay?” Jandi asks why the hell he came. Jaeha offers Junpyo an ultimatum — give up Jandi, or die. Junpyo refuses, and really starts getting a beating. He can’t do anything to fight back.
Now Jaeha instructs him to vow, on camera, that he’ll give up Jandi. Junpyo spits blood saying, “I can’t do that.” Incredulously, Jaeha asks, “Do you want to die?” Junpyo responds, “I don’t want to die, but if you’re going to kill me, what can I do.” For what it’s worth, since he’s being paid off by Mama Kang, I doubt Jaeha means to kill him — just wound him a little or a lot. Grabbing a chair, Jaeha demands that Junpyo give up Jandi. As he swings the chair downward, Jandi jumps forward to protect Junpyo, crumpling to the ground when the chair breaks across her back.
Right at this time, F3 come. Starting off with bronze medalist Song Woobin, he drop kicks some whoopass on our bad guys. Then with silver medalist So Yijung, he does some fancy legwork and knocks out some other guys. Finally, our gold medalist Yoon Jihoo dodges punch after punch from Jaeha, and then manages to twist Jaeha’s arm, effectively locking him in place. Yijung and Woobin rush over to a badly beaten Junpyo who’s holding onto an unconscious Jandi and eventually, Junpyo loses consciousness himself.
2nd plot:
Jandi wakes up to find herself in a hospital bed, with Junpyo sitting in a wheelchair looking over her. Junpyo asks Jandi if she knows how much of a scare he got. And who told her to throw herself in front of an attack when he was already half-beaten to death?
Junpyo: “Idiot. Stupid. Double-digit-IQ dummy. How could I do that when you were captured? I’d rather get all my ribs broken than let them damage one of your fingers. But still, why did you rush in when I was letting them beat the hell out of me? What if something happened?”Jandi repeats his words back to him (double-digit IQ, dummy), and they proceed to bicker. Jihoo, on the other hand, is outside the hospital room getting ready to deliver Jandi some flowers, but upon hearing the couple arguing, sets them outside.
3rd plot:
Afterward, Jandi goes home to find it in a state of disarray. The furniture is all over the room, odds-and-ends have been thrown onto the floor, and Jandi’s mom and Kangsan are crying in the living room. Turns out that Jandi’s dad has been kidnapped and if they don’t pay the requested ransom, who knows what will happen to her dad.
4th plot:
Without other options, Jandi’s mother swallows her pride and begs for help from Madam Kang. True to her warning, Madam Kang does not issue second chances easily, and coolly says that everything has its systematic order: “Wrongs must be apologized for, debts repaid, then help given. I am a businesswoman, so I cannot abide calculations and procedures that are not conducted properly.” Mom prostrates herself on the floor; Madam Kang looks pleased behind her paper but shows no emotion to Mom, who takes out a parcel. It’s a bowl of salt, which she pours over her own head, pleading for forgiveness. Even Madam Kang looks surprised at that. Satisfied now, she extends a hand to Mom.
5th plot:
Back at home, Jandi’s dad is back. Jandi notices that they’re not exactly joyous that dad’s back and asks what’s up. Jandi’s mom takes out two briefcases, filled with money. Her dad is extremely upset at the fact that his wife had to essentially go beg for money. His pride tells the rest of them that there had to have been another way to solve this, and that he’ll take all the responsibility of returning the money. Jandi’s mom insists that there could’ve been no other way, and Jandi’s dad gets up and leaves in anger.
Jandi finds her dad out by the playground, sitting in a swing. Jandi’s dad asks his daughter sadly if she really does like Junpyo. Jandi doesn’t answer but her dad makes a guess about it anyway. He laments, “Ah, I’ve given our beautiful daughter’s romance such a heavy burden.” Jandi insists that it’s not love, but Jandi’s dad, again, knows better. He tells her, no, it really is love.
6th plot:
Time for Jandi to pay Madam Kang a visit. She brings back the suitcases of money and thanks Madam Kang for the help, but no thanks. Madam Kang tells her that if she were smart, she should reconsider what she’s about to do. Jandi tells her plainly that they’ve made a decision as a family and that they won’t use her money for help. Madam Kang snidely makes a remark about Jandi’s family and their lack of pride. Jandi smiles bravely and retorts back that you can’t buy pride, and you can’t put a price on pride. She made a promise to Junpyo saying that she won’t ever leave him because of reasons having to do with his mom, and a promise is a promise.
7th plot:
F4 and Jandi is enjoying the snow at a winter resort, where Junpyo teaches Jandi how to ski (she’s by far the worst).
8th plot:
F4 are lounging around and Junpyo plays around with a necklace. Yijung makes fun of him for it and says that it has a “proposal” feeling to it. Junpyo is embarrassed. F3 ganders that knowing Junpyo, the necklace will never make it into the hands of Jandi. Meanwhile, Jihoo is hanging out with Jandi. He’s strumming on his guitar and Jandi is listening appreciatively. After he’s done, he makes a request of her.
Therefore, Jihoo takes it upon himself to set things in motion, to help Junpyo get over his nervousness by forcing them together. Jihoo first sends Jandi on an errand — getting coffee — then calls Junpyo out. The tactic works, and gets the ball rolling. Junpyo manages to figure out the rest on his own — he drapes his jacket around Jandi, deliberately putting her hand into the pocket so she finds the necklace, which she draws out curiously. Jandi thinks it’s HIS, and teases that it’s way too feminine for him. He tells her it’s hers. He says, “There’s only one like it in the world, so if you lose it, you’re really dead this time.” Junpyo had designed and ordered it himself, and explains its meaning: He’s the star, and she’s the moon inside, because Junpyo the Star won’t ever leave Jandi the Moon. Taking advantage of the romantic moment, Junpyo leans in to kiss her, but cough/sneezes at the last moment. Jandi returns the jacket and puts it over him; Junpyo reaches a happy compromise by sharing.
9th plot:
Jandi worries to Gaeul, because hearing that Junpyo made the necklace specially for her adds to the pressure to keep it safe. Gaeul thinks that’s a happy problem: “If someone told me, ‘I made this for you’ and gave me a one-of-a-kind keepsake, even if it’s just a piece of glass, I’d be so happy.” In the bathroom, The Mean Trio have overheard that the necklace Junpyo gave Jandi is one of a kind, and they fume over it. Naturally, they come up with a plan. When Jandi and Gaeul are skiing, the Trio “accidentally” knocks into Jandi, causing her to fall. Under the disguise of helping her back up, they make a snatch for her necklace.
10th plot:
Back at the resort, Gaeul notices Jandi’s missing her necklace, which sends Jandi on a panicked hunt all over her room. The Mean Girls find Junpyo, slyly saying that they’re pretty sure she lost his special necklace. Or maybe she threw it away. Junpyo comes upon Jandi mid-search, and asks why she isn’t wearing the necklace. She hems and haws at first, then comes clean and begs for forgiveness: “I’m sorry. I was definitely wearing it, but I don’t know when I lost it.” He asks, “It wasn’t because you wanted to lose it?” and he’s growing frustrated. “You do this every time. Whenever I try to get closer, you trample my heart like it’s nothing. Do I still mean so little to you?” She says, “Don’t misunderstand. That’s really not how it is.” But he tells her that her behavior is getting really tiresome, and leaves.
11th plot:
Although his words sounded so serious, but he’s just venting; he seems much less upset outside. He makes a Jan-di-like hat snowgirl and flicks snowballs at it in irritation. Hearing footsteps, he thinks it’s Jandi and starts to go off on how the necklace was one of a kind — but they’re his mother’s employees, here to collect him. Junpyo refuses to go, beating them off when they try to force him to leave. Ultimately, though, he is subdued into going.
12th plot:
Jandi goes around the ski lodge asking everyone if they’ve seen her necklace, and runs into the Mean Trio. They give her a “tip” — someone posted a notice about finding the necklace — and directs her to the location. Jandi heads off, leaving just before the latest blizzard warning comes in.
13th plot:
Back in the lodge, F3 are lounging around and the news tells them that there’s a blizzard warning in effect. At this moment, Gaeul rushes in and tells them that Jandi’s up in the mountains. She’s gone to look for her necklace. Jihoo asks, “Where is Junpyo right now?” Junpyo, in the middle of his car ride, gets a phonecall, presumably from one of F3. He has a face of alarm when he hears the message, and then announces that he has to use the restroom.
With the weather worsening, one of the Mean Trio starts feeling bad. They didn’t intend Jandi physical harm, but Ginger maintains the hard line and says Jandi had it coming.
Jihoo overhears this, and guesses they’ve done something to Jan-di. With his eyes bulging, he demands to know what they did.
14th plot:
Meanwhile, at the restroom stop, Junpyo pulls a bait-and-switch on his bodyguards and manages to get out of their careful watch. He tries to hitch a ride to get back to the ski lodge, and all the while we hear F3’s messages to him, “Jandi has gone up the mountain to look for her necklace,” and “Something might happen to Jandi.” Then he yells “STOP THE CAR” as he stands straight in front of a freight truck.
Jandi continues to search and finally, her body gives in. She hears Junpyo’s warning about losing the necklace in her head as she slowly fades. Meanwhile, Junpyo drives a snow mobile up to find Jandi. The mobile gives in half way and he continues to look for her anyway. He spots her lying in the snow and when Jandi realizes he’s there, she insists that she was looking for your heart, and that she didn’t mean to lose it on purpose. Junpyo panics and asks her, “Who let you do that?!” He carries her to look for some shelter.
Junpyo brings Jandi to an abandoned wooden cabin. He scuttles around looking for a way to warm up the place. He tries to make sure she’s still awake, and decides to take out of her wet clothes because she’ll just end up freezing to death. He consoles her and says that everything will be okay, he’s here. Some time later, Junpyo has built a fire and given his dry clothing to Jandi to keep her warm, shivering while he remains cold. When she pushes the jacket toward him, he rejects it. She urges him to take it, so once again they share the covering.
Jandi: “I’m sorry.”She asks, “How should I repay you?” A bit surprisingly, he answers, “A lunchbox,” by which he means the ones she eats every day: “Actually, the first time I saw it, I wanted to try it.” Jan-di promises to make it for him: “Let’s pack lunches and go on a picnic, the two of us.”
Junpyo: “If you’re sorry, that’s good enough. Don’t forget I saved your life this
time.”
15th plot:
The next morning, F3 and Gaeul are waiting around anxiously for their return. When they see the two come back, they’re all relieved. Jihoo returns Jandi’s necklace to her.
Jandi is true to her word. She works hard on putting together the lunchbox, and on the day of their meet-up, she waits a long, long time for Junpyo. When she started to despair, she thought back about that time he waited four hours in the snow for her, and she felt better. Breaking news — Shinhwa Group’s president, Junpyo’s father Gu Bon Hyung, is terminally ill. He fainted all of a sudden during a meeting and hasn’t gained consciousness yet. Jihoo watches this bit of news on TV when he gets a phone call. Junpyo paces around anxiously in a waiting room with his mom and Secretary Jung. A flight attendant, I presume, comes in to tell them everything’s ready. Junpyo, who’s about to leave with his mother to his father’s bedside, asks Jihoo to pick up Jandi.
Jandi’s still waiting at her spot for Junpyo when Jihoo comes rolling up in his motorbike. He tells her to hurry, there’s not much time left to catch Junpyo. Jihoo urges Jandi to hurry, because they only have half an hour before the plane leaves. Unfortunately, they’re too late. Some distance from the airport, Jihoo pulls over and Jandi watches the Shinhwa plane take off. Jandi cries, saddened at not having the chance to say certain things to him, like how much she likes him, while Jihoo comforts her.
From the plane, Jun-pyo sends her a text message, which reads:
“I’ll come back soon.
Stay there, and wait for me.
I love you, Geum Jan-di.”
